Yeah, I know, I'm from Cormwall myself. The Bretons don't consider themselves to be in the North of France either. We each have our own centre of geographical gravity.
Anyway.....
The South West is the best known cider producing area but there are also substantial orchards in Kent and East Anglia as well, with their own traditions of making cider with blends of eating apples, not just cider apples.
So if you want to refer to the South West and the South East together what do you call it if not South ?
hehe.

I've updated the entry now including
a) GuideML type formatting with headers etc.
b) The Supermarket guide added at the end in a table.
c) New title - I carefully considered all the suggestions including my own, but that wasn't enough so I set up a pilot study group, kept them blindfolded in a dark roon for a 3 hour brainstorming session and finally they came out with..........

What a brilliant idea! Elegantly, even classically, simple yet so descriptive.
Whole thing gets a thumbs up from me

A671889 - Cider - the Real stuff
Zarquon's Singing Fish! Posted Dec 19, 2001
Oh, pubs serving just cider takes me back to when I was a student in Birmingham! I've forgotten the name, but it doesn't exist anymore. Bit spit and sawdust.
It might be a good idea to expand on CAMRA. A footnote explaining what it means would do the trick.
I have a recipe for cider which might go well with this entry. Are you interested?

OK.

Thanks, but not really. Home cider-making is a whole new subject and I don't want to make the entry any longer now.

Not for inclusion in the Guide entry, but any of you with a Waitrose nearby may be interested in this reply from the ukcider mailing list:-

I can thoroughly recommend Sheppy's Dabinett, Kingston Black and
Tremlett's Bitter, though they are not absolutely real - being
carbonated but still very tasty. Of the three my favourite is Dabinett,
which goes against all the received wisdom, i.e., the best single
varietal is Kingston Black and Dabinett is not suitable for that
purpose. Prove this wrong by trying some! They are certainly available in Waitrose.
As an experiment I have made a few gallons from the fruit of my one
Dabinett tree this year to see how it measures up.

Well done - Sheppey's is just down the road from me - you've awoken my taste-buds.

a girl called Ben Posted Dec 20, 2001
My favourite was an opaque and sinister brew called Old Rosy. Given that I can stash away half a bottle of dark rum or a couple of bottles of decent wine with no ill-effects it was a shock do discover my limit was two half pints of the stuff. A lovely way to go, though.
I once went straight from sober to hungover with no intervening period of drunkenness on a quarter of a bottle of Diamond White.

Congrats, Andy,
This one is a christmas cracker! Wooooooh hoooooooo hoooooooooo!
Two bottles of wine, decent or not, generally has at least *some* effect on everyone I know. Hats off to A stomach lined with Lead!
What are you going to have to get through to get 'into the Xmas spirit' (my second favourite euphemism for p**sed)? Guess you'll need some of Andy's Real Cider!
Nice one Andy, (My dad is going to to be thanking you too, on the 25th!)

Oh the rum or the wine have effects! But they are usually rather than type effects. The Diamond White just went straight to and with no intervening raucusness at all!

Diamond White is the 's brew.
Well done, that man! The first of many we hope.
We *will* get back to you about a trip to Chimes, I promise.
(Only here a little while and already in the p*ssh**d's corner with Mina and BluesShark. Oh dear.)
