Well... these two years until I am finished with school and realistically able to move to England and be with Ian are feeling like an ice age just now...
As for him coming to the States to teach for a year, well, he's got a lot of reasons why it isn't a good idea(he needs to show dedication to his school, etc). Just hard for me to deal with all this.

I don't think there's anything I can say to make it easier / better for you.
what still works for me is being convinced that I'm incredibly lucky to have found him at all.
but of course it's stupid to be so close somehow and yet so far.

THanks Sunny... it just helps to know there are people in a similar boat who hear me out...
I'd been in long distance relationships before, but in all honesty, I was never in love. This is different. Quite hard.

Kahlil Gibran
"When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
...
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
...
To wake at dawn with a winged heart
...
and a song of praise upon your lips."
(not that I am good at accepting the double-sidedness of it. but I understand that something that can make us so deeply happy can also make us deeply sad.)

Yep... I dunno how much to push this "you need to come here to teach" issue... I don't want to be too selfish, but what I'm suffering right now is pretty bad.
"Love is patient, love is kind" right!?? I don't feel much like either these days...

I know it's hard to say the exact right thing to make it all seem so much better, but we're all here for you and we support you.
