Talk about covering all the bases

Now this is something I wasn't expecting... it's a pretty serious subject considering all the nutters I thought I'd find here. Anyway, you probably figured it out by now - yes, I'm one of those sad, sad people (no offence) who is in love with someone thousands of miles away. And he (I'll call him J from now on) has more baggage than I do, we're both single parents but he has more kids and a job. So I'm not expecting it to go anywhere, especially as I don't have the guts to use the dreaded L word. I tell people I think I _could_ grow to love him, in time, whereas the truth is I already know I do but can't bear to tell him in case we have to start talking about practicalities and all that.
