Great plan WD!
Good advice that saves money definitely gets my vote to go in! (not that I have one ) By the way, I have, in the past, worked a similar system with dental care. I was a little unsure as to whether this was a good idea, but it was a simple job (no root canal delving
) and went off without a hitch. I would certainly considering going back for anything basic.
Good luck with this,
Spiff

I've always considered it like taking a history and examining a patient as a med student... or presenting a case to the big bad consultant
One thing that I will ask my distinguished peers is this - I feel that it's missing something, but I have no idea what it is...
Any pointers to what it is would be great; it just seems to lack a kind of 'spark' for me at the moment...
Either that or I've just hit a particularly large writer's block
Further comments, as always, gratefully received!

It's a good idea, well written. If I had any actual knowledge of the matter I'd be inspired to write another entry, or several, on ways impoverished students save or make money. I'm thinking here of the wilder things that students do for money that ordinary people tend not to.
Examples:
- only shopping at closing time in the supermarket and getting all the marked down stuff that going out of date
- living entirely on pot noodle and Fray Bentos tinned steak and kidney pies and oven chips
- donating to sperm banks
- taking part in medical experiments
- holding up adverts for golf shops in town centres (why is it always golf shops?)
I've really nothing to add to this entry (except to say I like it...), especially since I'm a mere male, and the booking fee alone sounds to me like a reasonable price for the whole haircut...

It might be helpful to mention which hairdressers offer this type of service, who's best at it and who to avoid.
I can remember doing this as a student, but the wait was not nearly so long, although the cut itself took only a little shorter.

Hiya!
I had deliberately left out the names of the academies which offer the service becase it would end up sounding more like an advert than an entry... although I'll say here that the one I had was from Toni and Guy, and was quite marvelous Links to salon sites may be difficult as they are very commercial
As for who's best/worst at it, I'm not sure. I wrote that after my first such cut, so I'm not sure about others who provide this service. I do know that the bigger the salon (say the aforementioned Toni and Guy, Trevor Sorbie and so forth) the nicer the surroundings, the funkier the music and the better end result. All my friends tend to stick with Toni and Guy - and are very happy with the service, however, one friend from my halls had his hair dyed and cut at a Knightsbridge salon (nope, I'm not posh, my hall was in S. Ken... can you guess which uni I go to yet ) whose name escapes me - in a similar trainee fashion - he hated the cut, but we all thought that it was fine...
I'll do some more of these cuts in the coming year (short hair needs a trim every 3 weeks as they say... oh goody )
I'll see what I can do , I'll ask around a few of my mates and see what I come up with
Thanks for commenting
