Doon sooth is a familiar saying in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. We use it in reference to that there London, where the streets are paved with gold and all is fabulous.
I am keen to know other sayings as the Geordie dialect contains many Norwegian phrases. I am told that gannin yem (going home) is both Geordie and Norwegian.
