Wolfie Smith.
70's sit-com on UK TV.
About a trotskyite(failure), a hippy (useless)and various other Tooting characters.
I can't remember the name of it any more!

The pub that was citizen smith's local is now called the Freedom Firkin because he was a Tooting Freedom Fighter...

Probably Starburger, but thank god that afront to hygiene has closed (or been closed) down.

The Sree Krishna has been around for years, and should have been mentioned in 'Citizen Smith'

I can heartily recommend the Sree and so try their idlees, a sumptuous cake of rice (as opposed to a ricecake) with a rich sauce, ideal as a starter.

You can then sample the delights of the Freedom & Firkin public house next door, before and after your meal. Spacious, not too expensive (for London)sometimes quiet, sometimes packed to the gunwales, depending on your choice of night. And do say hello to Tom the resident ginger landlord, Mags the resident NZ assistant manager and Peta (not connected with this publication) the resident mad skinny australian puppetmaker/bikerchick/pushy-operator/scream-at-you-at-closing-time-type-person

Lots of love

The Local, Kd
