I don't think I do, either.
Being one of that strange breed of creatures, the Colin Baker fan, I agree that the unpredictability of CE's Doc is very reminisent of CB's, even down the shouting at the companions just for being human.

>> Hands up who HAS NOT got a copy of Star Wars on DVD/Video? <<
In about 4 different incarnations, including last years' box set
Can I add LoTR 4-disc box set special editions to that, too?
I saw the SW movies 1st time round at the cinema, too, Reefgirl.
Honestly, I know the new SW film is almost upon us (got tickets already ) but most SW that I know will watch AotC the evening before, just as a refresher (who'd watch it for pleasure <shudders>.
I really don't think it will harm the ratings for Dr Who that much.
'Tis nice to see the sci-fi-ers being so well catered for, though

Well, I may be cynical but I also live in a *very* small space which is already overflowing with other cr*p that I do own (and please not, I made NO comment as to the quality of the movies themselves. As I get older, I have less and less time to repeat view *anything*).
I like CE shouting at people. And I liked it when CB did it as well. It seems...natural to me. Mind you, I also liked PD's echoes of William Hartnell's barely disguised scorn/impatience, both of which I found vastly preferable to Pertwee's vague air of patronising gitness...

I think you could be right, any SW (me included) will have all the films anyway and be able to watch them after Dr Who

ITV cycnically puts a sci-fi well-established icon against a sci-fi icon in the first throws of revival.
The sci-fi geeks and even non-geeks either realise this and support Dr Who sticking two fingers up to ITV OR just watch Dr Who because they have seen Star Wars umpteen times anyway.
ITV lose ratings and alot of face for trying to destroy Dr Who's chances. ITV should just roll on its back where Dr Who is concerned and realise they are not going to win this one. Unless they start putting Corrie on at the same time which is how Micheal Grade killed Dr Who last time round - by purposefully putting Dr Who up against the soap.

Not a Star Wars fan. Have none of them on video. Have taken to watching 28 Days Later rather often tho.

Very small space? You've got a funny definition of a very small place. I'll grant you that it's overflowing with crxp though. Pertwee did get angry sometimes, particularly when people were being small-minded, as in Claws of Axos.
Sooner or later all the Doctors lost it, usually with petty minded people with small world views. Pretty much like the journalist that never questioned why there were no aliens on Satelite 5.

Sylvester McCoy lost it well in Rememberance of the Daleks when he's yelling to Davros and Davros is 'Begging' for mercy

Blues, I fully understand. We have an average-sized home but, with 3 mad hoarders living in it, it is still overflowing with the last 16 yrs worth of cr*p that we can't bear to throw away.
Junior's latest addition to the piles of trash include an easter egg box that he refuses to let go because it has pictures of the Incredibles on it!
I do see your point about lack of time to repeat view stuff, but I find that even with Sky's bazillion channels there's only about an hour's worth of TV per day that I feel is worth watching - and that not every day. The general quality of what is shoved down the throats of the viewing public is frequently way below par, IMHO.
Not a problem though, since I have my books, h2g2 and loads of revision to keep me occupied!

Ah, well, watching tv full stop isn't a great source of amusement in the BS/SLG household. You're more likely to find us *talking* cr*p in the pub.
And as Kerr has a problem with my definition of 'small'(), let's just say I lost about 50% of my storage space when I moved, hence the shedding of about 60% of my books, 50% of my comics and 98% of my video collection. It's actually been a very liberating experience.

Isn't a part of the marriage service, just after 'endow thee with all my worldly good' that 'I will get rid of the comics, I promise'?

Not that I'm aware of. SLG is amazingly tolerant of my geekness, but when it came time to move the stuff and re-house it, it became blindingly obvious that I had comics I had owned for 15 years or more and had never re-read and never would. Why bother keeping them?
Same goes for the videos and the books.

A. Honeybadger Posted May 11, 2005
Not necessarily, Master B. We merged our comic collections, the same as everything else.
He was the only one with the Tom Baker Dr Who toys tho. The closest thing to a sci-fi toy I ever got bought was a 6-million dollar man and bionic woman! They were pretty cool, though, if memory serves. I think they're still in a box up the loft somewhere.

No copies of Star Wars either, and I've only ever seen one and a half of the movies, but I did see the first one the first time around.
But - forgive me if I'm wrong - presumably most Dr Who fans, and indeed Star Wars fans, are y enough to record one or the other, or even both.
Just a thought.

When I originally met Mrs. D she owned more comics than I did! Nowadays we both read the same ones and it's usually her that suggests visiting Forbidden Planet.

I'm going to miss Dr. Who (and thus will have to video it) on the next Ban Collie Day weekend because I'm LARPing... you don't really get much geekier than that...
