Err,
a) that doesn't change the fact that Christmas Eve is Sunday.
b) Sarah Jane Adventures is being broadcast on BBC1 on New Years Day.
To return to your question, Fb, I'm not sure what the reaction would be. Probably better than if it was two guys, granted.

So no reaction at all? How strange.
I loved it. It looked good (Although there appeared to be a clever re-use of an alien from Torchwood to save money), the plot went along at a nice pace, and there were a few nice references to the past to kee us old fogeys happy*. Lis Sladen was just as charming and charismatic as ever, and the kids weren't bad either.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the series.
* When they first went into the attic, and Sarah was talking about the Doctor, there were some photos on a beam behind her. I spotted The Brigadier, and smiled, but then, next to that was a photo of Harry Sullivan, at which point I started welling up a bit.

Didn't spot Harry, but I did see that old publicity still from K9 and Co.
I enjoyed that immensely. In fact, I enjoyed it more than The Runaway Bride. Great to see Sarah Jane in action and the lead, and the kids actors (except Kelsey) didn't annoy at all, which is a miracle.
Luke's going to be in for some stick in the changing rooms, though surely?

Ormondroyd Posted Jan 2, 2007
Yes, I really enjoyed the show too. It had lots of energy, Liz Sladen was predictably great, and her young co-stars did a good job. Luke the Archetype is an intriguing creation, although I agree that he'll get odd looks in changing rooms! It was a fine script, with a neat subtext about the possible perils of consuming in order to conform, and a very poignant final scene. Kelsey was annoying, but then she was *supposed* to be annoying! I liked the reappearance of the alien from 'Torchwood' - it adds to the sense of continuity between the different 'Who'-related programmes. It's a shame that K9 can't appear regularly - I'm sure he'd be better employed with Sarah Jane than in the proposed non-BBC show in which, presumably, none of the other familiar characters will appear.
Anyway, from me, and I look forward to the series. The 'Outpost Gallifrey' website reports that the 'Sarah Jane' pilot pulled in 2.9 million viewers, which is exceptionally good for CBBC drama and bodes well for the series. Mr. (and Ms.) Smith, you're needed...

The Jetix series hasn't even had work started on it yet. And no, it's not supposed to feature any other Doctor Who character.
The only thing that's annoying me about SJA is that the series hasn't even started filming yet, so there's going to be one Hell of a gap between this and the series- are the kiddy wink target audience going to remember the characters?
Sarah Jane Adventures
Ormondroyd Posted Jan 2, 2007
Good point, KerrAvon. The new Doctor Who series is due in the spring, and we have been promised that the SJA series will run 'later this year', so my guess is that SJA will return in the late summer/early autumn after the Doctor Who season ends. Which would, indeed, be a long gap.

Ormondroyd Posted Jan 4, 2007
I really don't know. A second series of Torchwood has been commissioned but there's no word yet on when it's going to be made and screened. This is pure speculation, but my guess would be that it might air in the autumn. In terms of scheduling, I don't think it'd be a problem if Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures aired at the same time, because they are aimed at separate age groups. But that would mean that there'd need to be a lot of film crews and 'aliens' running around Cardiff in the spring, and the question would be whether Russell T. Davies and the 'Who' crew could cope with working on two series simultaneously.
Ah well. Time will tell...

Jozcoz Posted Jan 8, 2007
Do you rekon Capn Jack's gonna get back to Torchwood?
Sarah Jane Adventures
Jim Lynn Posted Jan 8, 2007
I think Torchwood without Captain Jack would be a non-starter. And I doubt that's their intention with the end of 'End of Days'.
I predict:
* First episode covers the team fretting over Jack's loss, pouting and swearing a lot, then finding Jack again (or Jack finding them)
* Jack won't be invulnerable any more
That second is a complete guess, based on no information whatsoever. The first is just standard practice for this kind of cliffhanger.
If I'm right (particularly about the second one) I'll be sure to gloat about my huge psychic powers. If I'm wrong, I'll never mention this post again. It's win/win!
P.S. Isn't this the wrong thread?

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Jan 8, 2007
Yeah, there should be at least one episode (preferably two) of the team getting used to life without Jack while trying their best to keep Torchwood going... if we have a thing where, through the magic of the TARDIS, Jack turns up again seconds after having left I will be forced to track down the writer of said episode and shout "LAME" at him.

Jim Lynn Posted Jan 8, 2007
They'll probably do a Buffy/Angel rip-off and have him fall out of the sky naked.

Well... at least it'd keep the John Barrowman Drool Brigade happy.
