Goodbye, Rose...
Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Started conversation Jun 15, 2006
Since my other thread on this subject appears to have been deleted (presumably because of the title, which was intended to be light hearted and wasn't picked up by any filters... another straw lands on the camel's back) I'll try again:

If, like me, you're finding Rose is getting a wee bit annoying then this news will surely warm your heart!
Goodbye, Rose...
Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Jun 15, 2006
Oh well
Any ideas as to who will be next?

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Jun 15, 2006
Someone who lets the Doctor do some of the work and isn't so self-centred hopefully!
Goodbye, Rose...
Dark Side of the Goon Posted Jun 15, 2006
Oh well.
I rather liked Rose. I was rather enjoying the idea of the Doctor NOT doing all the 'work', but then I liked Ace for the same reasons. I can see, though, how she might have irritated other fans.
The good news is that RTD and the team will be sending her off properly; RTD's comment that 'grown men will rend their clothes' at the season finale now makes a bit more sense. Let's hope she bows out well.
Goodbye, Rose...

I will miss her too. I was very unsure before Doctor Who came back to our screens about how well Billie would do - in fact I thought she would spoil it for me, but she proved me wrong! I've grown to like Rose very much and it will be a shame to see her go. However, I was gloomy when CE left and then DT appeared and has absolutely delighted me! I doubt they would bring Mickey in as the new companion - has the Doctor ever had a male companion? There a first time for everything I suppose! Hmmm, interesting news!

Ian
Steven
Ben
Jamie
The Brig (and arguably the othe rUNIT boys)
Harry
Adric (shudder)
Turlough
So yep, the Doctor's had male companions before. Less in later years, though.
Goodbye, Rose...
Jim Lynn Posted Jun 15, 2006
Importantly, I don't think the Doctor has ever *only* had a male companion - although my memory of end of Season 18 is hazy, so I guess you could claim that Adric was the sole companion during The Keeper of Traken, since technically, Nyssa didn't join as a companion until Logopolis.
And I've no idea if Jamie was ever solo.
Were there any other solo male companions?
Goodbye, Rose...
Smij - Formerly Jimster Posted Jun 15, 2006
Jamie was, technically, the sole companion for the first few episodes of the Wheel in Space, Adric was the sole companion in Keeper of Traken (although Nyssa became a companion in the following story) and Turlough was the sole companion for about five minutes of Planet of Fire.
Oh, not forgetting Engin. Dear old Engin. Haha.
Goodbye, Rose...
Awix Posted Jun 15, 2006
By that criteria Steven was sole companion (indeed, sole on-screen regular!) for the vast majority of The Massacre.

Mol - on the new tablet Posted Jun 15, 2006
Ah, this would be the spoiler thread then.
I daren't tell the children, they'll be devastated. And I'm really put out, because I was looking forward to Rose discovering that Captain Jack wasn't dead after all, and now she won't.

Fair point KerrAvon - I shall plead being too young to remember them!
Goodbye, Rose...
Kitish Posted Jun 15, 2006
ooooh i think it'll be interesting how they get rid off her.....Im hoping Jack returns actually. By the way - any idea when torchwood is to be shown?
Goodbye, Rose...
IctoanAWEWawi Posted Jun 15, 2006
well, I must admit Billie done good. I don;t particularly like the character, but she ain;t too bad. And I don;t think that is all Billie's fauly, she certainly must be thanking her fairy godmother for such a break! And I'll admit she can act. So fair do's.
All I can say on the replacement is, just so long a sit isn't her mum!
But wasn't there something when about all this way back in series one days when they said that Billie was confirmed for series 2 and parts of series 3? Is my memory going or is that now off? or will she guest?
p.s. there's always http://www.bonnielangford.co.uk/who.htm
Goodbye, Rose...
JulesK Posted Jun 16, 2006
Icotan, I thought they said all of series one and some of series two. So I was expecting her to go before the end of this series. But you may have got it right.
Goodbye, Rose...
The Groob Posted Jun 16, 2006
I'm getting a bit bored with Rose. She's almost as annoying as Mickey. Would quite like to see someone 'unassistanty' as the Doc's assistant. Maybe Esther Rantzen or Bill Oddie.
Goodbye, Rose...

"Maybe Esther Rantzen or Bill Oddie."
Why do we not have a smiley that conveys horrific, eldritch, near-Lovecraftian soul-clawing horror?
