Goodbye, Rose...
Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Jun 16, 2006
I'd like to see them bring in someone a bit more mature like Evelyn from the Sixth Dr audio adventures
Goodbye, Rose...
Jim Lynn Posted Jun 16, 2006
I think they're going to have a big problem with this. The Doctor/Rose relationship has been so strong that it would feel wrong for the next companion to have a similar relationship. Which means we might end up with something more along the lines of Tegan or Peri. But it's going to be a very tricky task to replace Rose and not alienate the audience. (Except for those curmudgeons who don't like her.)

The Groob Posted Jun 16, 2006
I DID like her, but personally I feel that one series is enough for an assitant.

I want to see an assistant that really wants to travel with the Doctor, but him want to be alone. Rather than (as the ninth Doctor did) ask someone along, why not have a Leela type start where he wants to stay alone, but the companion sneaks in/breaks/rushes in and refuses to get out? It would be a different dynamic, and a nice contrast.

Apparently the ever-reliable Sun has news on who the next companion will be.
No links. Them as wants to know can do the legwork. No accidental spoilers here, no sir!

I'd like to see Mrs Moore from the Cyberman episode, she was good
Goodbye, Rose...
Dark Side of the Goon Posted Jun 16, 2006
Ah, yes, one of the great missed opportunities of the series was Mrs. Moore.
Goodbye, Rose...
Jim Lynn Posted Jun 16, 2006
I don't know - you could argue that it shows a confidence in the series that they can create a character like Mrs Moore only to kill her off.

Full-page article in the Times today about the going of Rose.
(Sorry about your name, Ictoan. Is that better? I've always read it the wrong way and say it wrongly in my mind... oops.)
Goodbye, Rose...
Dark Side of the Goon Posted Jun 16, 2006
Well, true, but she was one of those characters that you wish hadn't died because she could have made return visits, or at least appeared in fan fiction.
It's a good dramatic device though. Create a likeable character, make us care and then kill her. And she died well, I think. It was good to have the Doctor with some competent allies for that ep.

I'm not going to lurk the Sun.
I think he should go back and get that idiot with the hole in his head, or maybe Jackie, who would be great comedic value.
Anybody but Bonnie Langford or Janet Street Porter, who was on my BBC local news station tonight at the Humber Bridge talking about how great it is, "except for the fact that the other end connects you with Grimsby HAR HAR HAR" why wasn't anyone there to chuck her off the Bridge?
Then again, I'm available forcompanion
Goodbye, Rose...
IctoanAWEWawi Posted Jun 16, 2006
Ah, but Mrs. Moore was in a parallel universe, so theoretically she could come back in *this* universe!
I was wondering, what about James bolam as a brigadier type chappy? (ok, being silly, they'd never do that!)
p.s JulesK, dunnae worry, everyone does that with my name. Even on non-hootoo sites I get called icotan instead of ictoan, just seems there is some processing anomoally which renders ictoan as icotan, there's obviously something in the english language processing centres that doesn;t like that combination of letters. hmm, gives me an idea.

oh oh oh!
How could go back to France and take Mme du Pompadour before she becomes the King's mistress? (Then drop her back same place/time at the end of series three so no-one missed her)
Goodbye, Rose...
Dark Side of the Goon Posted Jun 17, 2006
He can't do that, GB, that timeline was established in The Girl in The Fireplace. Plus. with Mme DuPompadore aboard I don't think we'd see him leave the Tardis that often.
Goodbye, Rose...
Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Posted Jun 17, 2006
Dang.
Can we have different episodes for us who want sexy Doctor Who and others who want *usual* Doctor Who?
*pigs might fly* I know.
Goodbye, Rose...
huzzah4knolly Posted Jun 17, 2006
Didn't they do that with UFO, or was that just a rumour ?
