Right on the button as always. Did you know that it is now possible to put an end to those intensely annoying pop up ads? Just put the title of this thread into your favoured search engine and I am sure you will be able to find the relevant software (which I believe can also be used to stop banner ads) smiley - smiley

Nitpicker, that is WONDERFUL! smiley - biggrin I didn't know about the 'pop-up stopper' software, and I am very grateful to you for drawing it to my attention! smiley - cheers

I did exactly as you suggested, and my search found a magazine article about the software, complete with a link to a site where the software is available free. I have now downloaded the software, and I'll let you know how well it works for me.

After the download (which only took about 75 seconds), I closed the download window, and guess what I found? Pop-up ads from the magazine whose article I'd read and from the search engine I'd used! smiley - bigeyes

But those would have been triggered before I downloaded the software, so their appearance don't reflect on its effectiveness. Hopefully they'll be the last pop-up ads I ever see on my home computer!

Tut tut, not been reading your On Line supplement from Thursday's Guardian (lots of interesting little bits of info to be found in there).
Please do let me know how well it works - I haven't downloaded it yet because I've got other problems with my PC so please do let me know how effective it is so that I can get my stopper when I've sorted out my PC.
