Hi Gnomon, point by point...

It was called "Games without Frontiers" in every other European language, but for some strange reason it was called "It's a Knockout" in English.

Australia also called it It's a Knockout, however, in France the qualifying rounds (equivalent to our own domestic IAK) were actually called Interville, I don't know what the domestic competitions were called in other countries. I seem to remember that the International competition was even called Jeux Sans Frontières on the BBC coverage - but my memory may misguide me here.

In the international shows, Stuart Hall had the infuriating habit of being totally biased towards the British team.

Well, similar to British commentators in european football, olympics coverage also. We are hardly the most guilty country in this respect. I remember the coverage of one race in the Atlanta Olympics didn't even bother showing who won the race as the US contender was about half a lap behind and the camera was on them. Besides, JSF was only really a bit of smiley - silly fun not to be taken too seriously.

You should use a capital E for Europe and European, throughout the entry.
Fair enough with Europe but why european? It's not a proper noun. smiley - erm

Gnomon - time to move on

As far as I know, European is an adjective, but it can be used as a noun: I am a European. You always use capital letters for this sort of adjective (I don't know the technical term): Irish, French, American. You don't talk about british people, or the english language. So the same applies to European.

But if you want to change your entry now, you'll have to contact the sub-ed, since it has been whisked away and is on its way to a dedicated sub-editor at this very moment.

Congratulations.smiley - bubbly
