So, a group of sixteen year olds could go into a resturant and order a meal, accompanied by beer, but not wine?

Technically yes, but I believe people serving on licensed premises can refuse anyone at their own discretion.

Yes, yes, but they can't drink it in the bar area. It has to be in a food serving area (how this is defined is anyones guess!).

The one redeeming feature of American law is that it was made by people who knew that they didn't know what they were doing, and therefore set it up so that it can change easier as time moves on. British law seems to be a lot more set in it's ways.

Hmm, maybe it's because English law has evolved over a far longer period of time, while American law was largely generated in one go? It's always easier to produce a better system with the advantage of hindsight.

LOL...maybe except constitutionally...we can change ours in a blink (e.g. the house of lords fiasco - managed to change that without even having a replacement lined up). Look at the electoral college - a brilliant and necessary part of the election process in the days where communication took months; now completely unnecessary and unfair and is it being changed? Is it b*****y.
