Hi, Witty Ditty!
I really like this one - in spite of Borg's 'Ice Man' persona, your entry still has plenty of life and personality. There was only one place where I slightly lost track: you explain how Borg flourished at Roland Garros becuse he was a clay court specialist, and triumphed at Wimbledon in spite of the fact that he was playing on grass, and then that he never won a final at the US Open. I know I could look it up, but I think you should explain what surface he was playing on when he didn't win in the US (so was it more or less of a surprise, compared to France and Wimbledon?)
There are a few places where it looks as if you introduced changes, but didn't quite make the full sentence match: the first line, for example, has Borg 'regarded to be one of the best' - I'd go for either 'considered to be' or 'regarded as'. The sentence in the 'Thank you for the Tennis' section starting 'he may have retired earlier...' is a bit ambiguous in its present form, and might be worth re-arranging a bit. Also, the 'He is; despite leaving...' sentence punctuation in the 'Ice Borg Now' section seems a bit odd. And I think there's a missing 'to see' in the sentence about the rivalries of his career.
But those are only very trivial points - the entry overall is highly readable, and is a very nice contrast to your one on McEnroe. I know the games are seen as classic, but to breathe such life back into sports events of 20 years ago is quite an achievement.

Hiya!
Ok, I'll make a few changes (hopefully the Scouts will give me a bit more time to change things )but since I'm meant to be in a lecture now, I'll do them in my lunchbreak.
Actually, those matches were played before I was born, and it was only due to a complete wash-out at SW19 that I ever got to watch them... thank god for recorded matches I also felt I had to do an entry about Borg, if only to balance the one about McEnroe... But this one was so much more difficult because he was just so on court. You might notice that there is a definite lack of quotes from the player; it took me a good few days to write this one...

fantastic (anything on Connors coming up soon???)
just a few queries: "goldilocks" comment about the US open surface - I understand the point you're trying to make about the courts, I just don't get how the term goldilocks is appropriate to society - I think I'm being thick
also - what did Borg do at the Aussie open - that was in place then wasn't it? just a few lines on it might be interesting...

Hiya!
The Goldilocks term was simply the whole 'not too [soft/hot], not too [hard/cold]; but just right!' thing from the fairy story: nothing too important, but I can take it out if you want
For the Aussie open; I couldn't find any information on him playing at the Aussie Open; it could be because that many players in the Northern Hemisphere at the time just tended to skip it - thinking that it was too far, and too much... thus not important enough. And for Borg, it was on grass until the 80s, but I don't think that was his main reason why he didn't seem to either; not doing too well due to the surface or otherwise or not playing at all because it's too much trouble? I don't know. I'll check it over for you though
Connors? I'll have to add him to my 'to-do' list then... I've got to do Steve Redgrave, and perhaps George Best before that though!
Thanks!
Any futher comments, as always, gratefully receieved!

Witty-Ditty the sports personality chronicler.....
leave the Goldilocks comment - I was just having a brain failing on it, and wished for clarification.
I think even if Borg didn't play the Aus open, it might be good just to say so, and why. else it looks a little odd, with a lot on the other 3 slams, and nothing on that one...

Hiya!
Actually.. on scouring the net, I am seriously doubting whether he did play the Aussie Open at all... I'll mention it briefly with a possible theory why he didn't play it... It does seem a bit strange though...
Thanks!

Hi, Witty Ditty!
The new bit about the US Open clears up my question nicely, and balances the French and Wimbledon bits very nicely. The little nitpicks have all been smoothed out....
But I'm still suffering from the shock of your casual comment that of course this was all before you were born (yes, I would have realised if I'd thought about it at all!)

Thanks all!
Yes, I am that young... I only wish that I could have watched those matches without the prior knowledge of the result - even now, they are just amazing
I'm not sure if I can add anything else to this entry, but if I have missed anything, please do tell me!

It looks great to me, but then I more or less stopped watching tennis when Borg retired, and I assumed the sport was always like that.....
