A Conversation for Talking Point: Is The Movie Ever Better Than The Book?
The Exorcist

"The movie is scary, but this book will make you think." (from a reviewer at Amazon).
I have to say this movie was one of the scariest I've ever seen. The book gets rave reviews, but I only vaguely recall reading it. The movie, on the other hand, is unforgettable. It probably helped that I was raised Catholic, so the nuns had put the fear in there deep. I was long removed from the Church when I saw the movie, but the mind has some pretty deep levels that seem to resist change.
My wife missed at least half the movie, with her hands over her eyes, and she still doesn't want to watch it. I might get her to watch the "sequel", "Repossessed" ... "oh, mom, not pea soup again!"
