A Conversation for Talking Point: Is The Movie Ever Better Than The Book?

I think that if you have already read the book, there is no way the film will measure up to it. This is because you have a ready formed opinion of how things should look and the film will probably never match it. (Case in point: The Beach. But then they got rid of one of the best characters.)

The true test for book adaptations is if it makes you want to read the book in question. This happened to me with Fear and Loathing, Get Shorty and, more recently, High Fidelity.
