The multiple Postings here are an attempt to show (instead of tell - see the Entry) how damaging this imperious and unexpected rejection was to me.
And this is my only chance to defend myself, as disagreements with the decisions of the editors don't seem to be allowed - and I'm really not at all comfortable with that.

Was this rejected ~again~?????
*breathes slowly, meditates, counts to ten in Swahili, which is difficult because Tal dosen't know Swahili...*

No - not yet Tal. But I haven't heard, and I was letting off steam about the first rejection while I had the chance. I don't think people should get away with what they did, not Scot-free anyway.
If it hadn't been for your support, and the help and support I got from others with each version, I'd have dropped the whole thing and probably left h2g2 altogether by now.

I'm not really here Posted Nov 12, 2001
Grime honey, try to take things easy.
Please remember that the italics work British office hours (sort of), so having an entry recommended at the weekend will take longer to get an answer.
It is now Monday, so they should be in and busily working through things that have cropped up over the weekend.

I was trying to stay out of this, having put my foot in it the first time...
To predicate one's remaining with h2g2 on the acceptance of an entry is to belie the thesis of the entry in question.
I can see your point and I can see the editor's.
I believe there is something important being said(sic)in the entry.
I believe that the entry is important to Grime.
What I don't have a clue about is the entry's importance within the philosophy and intent of the guide. I am completely at a loss.
So, while I sympathise with your plight, Grime, I am still trying to figure out how things work around here. That's why I'm waddling about in the PR basement.

Hi TR, thanks for your voice of reason.
The Entry as such isn't that important to me, but I do tend to get angry at contraventions of natural justice - especially when they are so shockingly unexpected and couched in such offensive terms. This would apply if it was someone else at the receiving end, not just me.
The question of existence doesn't mean that justice isn't important. And the possibility of leaving would reflect the sense of injustice - I wouldn't want to belong to something ruled by a clique who seem to answer only to themselves - there was no right of reply. The entry that was rejected was the result of a lot of Peer Work, the people involved being very complimentary and encouraging. Then it was chucked out as soon as it was recommended. I still think this is a scandal.
As far as the Guide's objectives are concerned, this is a factual entry about the ideas of a real philosopher, and it isn't all that far away from the eschatological concerns of Douglas Adams either, (does the universe have meaning etc). I am NOT trying to tell anyone whether it does or not, just reporting on an interesting - and very prominent - philosopher of the last century's central question, the main point of which was in articulating this sort of concern . What's wrong with that?
I find your continuing interest very helpful, though. Thanks,
Grime

Many thanks, Frogbit. You were the first to comment on the first article, and the first to congratulate me after final acceptance - and you supported me throughout. I'm considerably in your debt.
I'll have those drinks, thankyou.
Regards,
Grime

Many thanks to you too, Gnomon. Your sharp reading of the article enabled me to improve it no end. I think I did, actually, take every one of your acute observations on board.
