How does this work???

Hi Pyscho!
Right first things first. Where I've typed out the code that translates into the big red letters - I've had to use ( ) brackets instead of < > brackets to stop the parsar turning it into a second set of big red letters as well!
Okay onward. I checked in the GuideML clinic and I couldn't see anything on a tag. My guess is this is probably a piece of HTML being used as GuideML
Anyway, clearly the way it works is between the denoted tags you can alter both the size and colour of the text using the GuideML instructions I've used on the page.
What I do not know is whether this works on ordinary text and not just Subheaders (I strongly suspect it will.) or what will happen if you alter the "RED" reference to EE0001 or what the hell the number for "BLUE" is.
I suggest you use the /h2g2/guide/testXXXXX URL on this page and try experimenting.
Good luck.
If I find out anything else I'll let you know.
Clive

Hi Clive and Craig!
It works for all text between the tags including headers and subheaders.
If you just want to change the colour, or the size, use FONT COLOR or FONT SIZE. Don't forget that COLOR has to be the American spelling!
Check out my page for a different font and colour, or my links page for yet more examples!!
If you want to find out the codes for the different colours, do a web search for HTML tutorials, and there are usually some that list all the codes. If you want, I can post the link to one on my homepage for you!
Hope this helps

Oh yes. Thank you very much.
I'd never used the font tag before and I couldn't see it in the Clinic, confirm my suspicions - is this HTML?
Thank you Mistdancer.
THANK-YOU

You're welcome!
Yes, it is HTML. I couldn't figure it out at first, so I cheated....I asked Ottox!!
I found all the stuff about the colours and suchlike on a really good website. I'll go put the URL for it on my space now, ok?? I'll leave it there for a week or so, so you can get it if you want!
It'll be at the bottom, just above the Discuss button!
THANK-YOU

So now asking me is cheating?
Clive, if you want to use < and > in GuideML, you can do it by typing < for < and > for >
Example: For the page to show the text "", write "<FONT>".
THANK-YOU

Awwww Ottox
I didn't mean it like that
Just that I didn't bother trying to find out myself, so I posted in the Feedback forum!! And as I recall, it was you, my knight in shining armour, who answered!!
