Ode to Cleo
The cat, she sat; just think of that! Just sat!
All the while thoughts through her head
suggested food, perhaps some bread,
but mainly meat, but not some fish,
Hugo could not end up in her dish!
And so her Sergeant gave her food,
But Cleo she was rather rude,
And turned up her nose as if to say,
You fed me that on Saturday!
And so Sergeant went to the store
And asked them if they had some more
Of some of that delicious cake
Cleo had the last they baked.
And brought it home, and to her gave,
At last Cleo stopped playing the knave,
And gobbled it up and for an encore
Ate the first food and asked for more!
