A Conversation for Marriage
my two cents' worth

Marriage is an institution left over from the days when average life expectancy was 40 years. More often than not, marriages were also arranged and the wedding (or at least, the betrothal) took place when the female was prepubescent (for convenience, let's say 12). "Til death do us part" was not meant to mean 50+ years!
Since we are all modern and progressive and so on, why are we supporting this ugly patriarchal system anyway? Women should not still have to change their names so everyone knows they are a "possession" of their husband's. What will they think of us on Alpha Centauri??

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
