Travelling to Oslo
Hati Started conversation Aug 15, 2005
Me and Mme.F will be in Oslo for a weekend in October. Any chance to meet somebody? It'll be 7-9/10.
Any suggestions about how to spend 2 days in this lovely town with two teenage kids?

It turned out to be more reasonable (read: cheaper) than Berlin.

yes, there are some fine museums too. viking ships (both some real and some reconstructions and replicas, if memory serves). thor heyerdahls famous raft (the kon-tiki), right? munchs museum (but i'm afraid some of his best works were burnt by gangsters a year or two ago). and a lot of other sights to see. i've never really been to oslo, only passed through some years ago

Hati, is this the thread you wanted to bring to my attention? Because I had already noticed it, but I've only ever been to Oslo once, many many years ago, and there were no kids in our group...
The only thing that comes to mind is Vigelandparken - I've never been there myself, but I've seen photos of the statues, and they do look impressive and interesting...

Bumblebee might have some tips - have you got her e-mail address Hati?

Hati, you could go to Vippetangen and try one of the big things they have there. Should fit nice with a weekend.

Vigelandsparken... a must for adults, a no no for teenagers, unless they like statues.
The viking ships (no replicas just the real deal) - yes, yes, definitely. ( I only got around to seeing them last summer. )
The Kon-Tiki museum, if you like Thor Heyerdahl.
And there are probably more museums around that are worth a visit...

Should we buy Oslo Card? Seems that in Oslo the card thing really works.

The Kon-Tiki one I'd actually like to see. Can you see it for me, too, if you go there?
