ROF! As a journalist... That's rich...
Nah, just kidding... Maybe we can sing a duett(?), then, at the meet-up in Esbjerg!

Well, I was actually thinking of getting a Kareoke maschine for the meet-up, but if someone brought along a guitar or something, that would be a lot cheeper

Hmmm...
Well, I DO sing from time to time. As a teacher, it is almost required, all though I usually like my pupils too much to sing a lot to them.
Once a class of 8th-graders had read "Det er et yndigt land" (Moderators: This is the Danish title for the national anthem, it's called so, please leave it be!) When we gathered for next lesson, I told them that we were going to sing it. Being that they were a boring lot, they refused. So I commanded them standing and stood myself, taking the lead in insisting to sing our national anthem. The first verse was solo, but after that, they started to follow.
I always wondered if that was a pedagogical victory or if they just wanted to sing so loud that my voice couldn't be heard...
Anyho; bring guitars, keyboards, what have we, and I'll put together some papers with good songs on'em, just for those who don't know all lyrics.
Suggestions to lyrics are welcome. I immediately figured "Bruce's Philosophers Song" (Monty Python), "The Times are a-Changin" (Dylan), "Jeg ved en lærkerede" (Carl Nielsen) and "Life's gonna suck" (Leary). What else? (Singing!)

Confirms my suspicion that teachers may win a battle, but they're bound to lose the war...
I've just recently started to play guitar, but I expect by the time the meet-up is, I'll be able to virtually everything! he-he... Well, as long as it isn't somekind of experimental jazz-stuff, anyway. And don't expect me to do a lot of neck-breaking solo's either. Anyhoo, if we're first gonna do Dylan, what about "Blowin in the wind"? And some CCR would be in please as well, "Down On the Corner" or "Proud Mary" for example. And Beatles! "Help", "Can't Buy Me Love"... The list is endless, really...

Proud Mary, I´m up for that, I do a darn good Proud Mary...
How about some classics, like Sinatra or The Carpenters???

Why wont you sing, Hatifnat? Same reasons as me - scared about effect of voice?
As for the music...
I read suggestions in the style of "Blowin in the wind", which is no problem and some CCR (I assume Creedence Clearwater Revival - please join me in my quest to abolish all abbreviations!) "Down On the Corner" or "Proud Mary", I can handle that. The Beatles, "Help" and "Can't Buy Me Love" is also 'go'.
But I don't know "The list is endless, really..." Who did that one?
As for "New York, New York", no prop either. How about "My Way"?
But let's remember to keep it singable! Some tunes are really hard to sing without the benefit of an entire orchestra - or in deed a karaoke-system. I figured "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba as a great party-gig, but it's down right ridiculous without sufficient musical support! (I know; I've tried that. Please don't ask...)
But, erh... Shouldn't we actually debate all this on the other debate, the one for Danish meet-up, so that those who are proud members but live outside the affordable-and-acceptable-travel-range can be ridden of our happy preparations?
Go there and see another of my nutty suggestions!

Also I can sit with and learn swedish/norwegian/danish.
Usually I know the lyrics of the songs though.

You could mime... You know, pretend that your singing. Just so that we don't think you don't like use or think we're lame or something...
