Die on your a**e...
Geoff Taylor - Life's Liver Posted Aug 27, 2001
I'm an amateur, so I do Open-Mic slots, and gig where I can. I've played in Sheffield & Wigan, but mostly I perform in Manchester, at the Frog. There are quite a few good clubs in Manchester:- The Frog, The Buzz, Murphy's Malarkey, The Briton's Protection and others.
There, I think that answers the questions. Was the timescale acceptable?

Alright people.
Been away for the weekend so playin catch up.
Manchester? Small world an all that jazz. Come down to the Malarkey next time you are in Manchester. It goes like the budgie.....cheep.
Not been to the frog but I've been to the buzz club. It was on their birthday party. Peter Kay showed up at the last minute as a surprise headline act. Absolutely fantastic. He can just go on with no set or plan and just bounce comedy of the audiences' suggestions. He is hilarious.

Hunter you wrote "I need answers to these questions now! Provide them!" a couple of posts ago. I think thats the time scale to which Geoff is referring.
Geoff, what did you think of last night? Did you say you were going to be doing a bit next week?
Die on your a**e...
Geoff Taylor - Life's Liver Posted Aug 29, 2001
I had a good time last night.
Jason did well, and I always like his "porno animal" books.
Shame about "The Pancreas". To have suffered and died so badly on your first gig is really tough. Having some material (other than putting a condom on the mike) might have helped.
I like Steve Harris, and he had a good night.
Was it me, or did Brendan Riley have to work quite hard last night? I've seen him before and he absolutely stormed.
Yes, I'm doing a bit next week, so you'll be able to get your own opinion of me. See you then...
Die on your a**e...
threesecondmemory Posted Aug 30, 2001
Yeah the Pancreas was a bit painful!
I thought his act could work one day but it needs a lot of work and yes, more material.
Yes. Brendan did seem to be struggling a little. I suppose the difference between him and the newer comics is the confidence to push that bit more if the audience aren't quite with him. If things start to go wrong for a lot of comics it goes from bad to worse, but brendan managed to pull it back.

Hmmm, this is vaguely familiar. Aren't we at the same point now as where we started? How odd!
Die on your a**e...
threesecondmemory Posted Aug 31, 2001
on or off topic?
('cos I was wondering why you said broadband isn't all it's cracked up to be)
Hunter any suggestions?
Die on your a**e...
Geoff Taylor - Life's Liver Posted Sep 1, 2001
Broadband download speeds are just great. Some files download faster than the playing speed, so you can watch in realtime. Brilliant.
Access times aren't that much quicker. And for some reason I've got problems with email attachments thru Outlook.
Overall, yeah, it's worth it
Die on your a**e...
threesecondmemory Posted Sep 3, 2001
Do you think the access problem is to do with not enough band width on the websites servers?
[back on topic]
You ready for the gig tomorrow?
Lee.
Die on your a**e...
Geoff Taylor - Life's Liver Posted Sep 3, 2001
Am I ready?...er.... I lasted 3 and a half minutes at the Comedy Store's Gong show. Does that count as decent preparation?
I'm not doing the same set as last time, although not all the material will be new. Which means not all the material has been tried before.....
I'm absolutely crapping it for tomorrow. Can't think why...
I'll talk to you at the gig tomorrow. Honest feedback please? For f***'s sake be honest (although sympathetic if need be). A comic at my level needs good feedback. I'll be tapping Toby for some advice too.
Die on your a**e...
threesecondmemory Posted Sep 3, 2001
I'll try and be as honest as possible although I may be a little intoxicated so I'll probably not be the best judge.
Good luck for tomorrow. I'll see u then.
Lee.

Geoff had a good gig, 'specially since he was first on which is always going to be tough. Everyone responded well I thought.
Only criticism (sorry geoff, been over this b4) was not holding the mike near enough but thats easily fixed.
Jobs a good 'un.
You coming down tonight geoff? I'll be quite drunk as Toby, Spider and I are going to XS at six to try and persuade the manager to host the night.

Geoff Taylor - Life's Liver Posted Sep 21, 2001
So... the XS Malarkey. Looking forward to it.I'm also glad that I've got my internet back after two weeks. Broadband? Pah! One little fault on my ethernet card, and it falls over.
Anyway, I'm back now. Heh.

*wandering through some old threads, decides to revive one, or try anyway!*
So Geoff, how'd feel about the gig on tuesday? You got that mic problem sorted now I presume? And people coming down to see you specifically.....the pressure!
Hunter, will be in Manchester over christmas?
