This is interesting and informative. smiley - smiley

I particularly like the picture of the little boy getting cross because he can't see any numbers in his 'number' book. And the comparison between 'flavour blindness' and colour blindness.

There are a few phrases that might need tweaking.

In the sentence beginning "I think given how few people I think", I would delete one of the "I think" phrases.
In the sentence beginning "You realise some dishes", you need a "can't" after "really".

>>I particularly like the picture of the little boy getting cross because he can't see any numbers in his 'number' book.<<

"I thought you said there were NUMBERS in this book" he cried out frustration.

Then all of a sudden blurts out: "12!" ,"7", "53"

Mum peers over at the book, the Dr and her exchange confused glances. There's nothing there for them to see.

Mum said afterwards that was when she realised what the alternative perspective is, when me and Chris flunk the Ishihara exam, and say we couldn't see the numbers - we really can't.

Flavour blindness is a useful metaphor for describing impairing of one sense. It'd be bit like not having the ability to taste sweets things through some neurological impairment.

A cup of sweet tea would taste a lot like water. Red can look a lot like black. It's similar.

Wasdriving today and look up at a traffic light at a junction and was amused by the "red" light being just the right shade of orange to look to me to be green.
