This is beautiful.
It reads aloud well and, as Dmitri says, it is very sensuous.
I don't really understand the end, or the reference to the oboe, but the result is intriguing.

On another read of this, I've noticed a mistake. The last line of the first stanza should read 'to the tune that the wind whistles'.
Otherwise great.

You could be right. I didn't think of that.
But there are two different spellings of 'Maragadham' as well.

Yes. Clarification from author, please - is there a reason for this?
I just realised something: the German word for emerald is 'Smaragd'.
Now I know where it comes from.

As with Harrison's gently weeping guitar, the image transcends reality and takes us straight to an emotional state of mind that defies our logical side. Well it does for me anyway.
