Tower 42
Created | Updated Apr 19, 2004
One of the best thing about London's financial district known as "The City" and the "the square mile" used to be, by far, that on the top of one of its tallest buildings, facing south-east, was to be the number "42" painted in nice, friendly, 30 feet high numerals.
This previous monument to the meaning of life, the universe and everything, is an odd-looking triangular shaped thing, with a black bit at the top.
This 600 foot-tall building itself is now called "tower 42" and was previously known (and still commonly is) as the "Natwest" tower (the name of it's previous owner).
If all these references to the meaning of life the universe and everything is getting to much, the tower has bar open to the public, where else but on floor forty-two.
Where these large friendly numerals the work of the H2G2 underground?
