But that means that f.i. pubs should be completely smoke-free...I don't think that would work. Besides...isn't that a form of discrimination?

It's not discrimination because it's stopping people from doing things rahter than just being things. Smoking affects other people. It's discrimination in the sense that banning drug users from clubs is discrimination.

Smokers don't have rights...

Smokers don't have rights? What about the human rights? Or the rights of the law? We might be smoking, and many sees that as a stupid thing to do, but what if somebody commited a serious crime, and they didn't smoke. They got a fair trial. However, if that person smoked, you are saying that he wasn'y going to get a fair trial? That's more or less preposterous.

I didn't mean that they don't have all the normal rights ascribed to human beings, just that they don't have particular 'smoking rights' (ie. the right the smoke).

so.. what you are basically saying here.. is that we don't have the right to do what we want?

No one has the right just to 'do what they want'.

Nonsense. Everybody has the right to do what they want. The only thing is that also makes them obliged to pay for the consequences, and some people are not willing to do that.

Well said. It is true that we can do what we want, but many people go beyond the boundaries of "do what they want".
