Subbing n' stuff
Mu Beta Started conversation Jan 13, 2003
Morning Bossel,
As you've probably gathered: Danny B, Whoami and myself have taken on the subbing for this project. I thought I'd better kick this thread off for any editorial issues, last minute changes etc.

Aah yes, fine!
Thanks for volunteering on such a ( ?) subject!
I assume there'll be quite some unexplained bits and pieces but still I hope this thread won't make us enter the top 10 list of longest postings.

I doubt it. We're all of a scientific persuasion and, from what I've read so far, the style has been thoroughly well sorted out by yourself (), so it should be a stroll.

A silly question, but I've got my subbing brain in at the minute, and it apparently conflicts with my scientific brain.
In A601912 (Side Lobe Suppression), the author uses the designation uS, several times. Does this refer to microseconds?

Hi there!
Yes, that's supposed to be µs, or 'us' for lack of proper html support. μ for 'mikro' doesn't work in Opera (5.12) and NS 4.7x. should work better but doesn't in any of the browsers I use
How's it going with the other entries then?

Monsignore Pizzafunghi Bosselese Posted Feb 18, 2003
Well, they are't really official pages, but A964046 and surrounding entries use the more concise version too

"How's it going with the other entries then?"
'Laborious' might be the best terminology. I know Danny's finished his, and I'm plodding through slowly; I'm about halfway through (in reverse A-number order.)

Ooops, posting 7 went to the wrong thread (should have gone to the conversation with Danny B )
'Laborious' -- oh, that bad? Should I run them through PR for a week or so?
Subbing n' stuff
Mu Beta Posted Feb 21, 2003
Last thing I need is couple of dozen more 'experts' telling me what to change.
It's not as bad as all that; it's just reminded me how deathly dull a combination of history and physics can be.

Thank you very much! You obviously know how to encourage a writer who is fond of bits and bytes and details

If it results in more 30-entry projects, I think the Subs need to discourage you, for our own good.
Anyway, serious question: The ASCII art in A743780 is all very nice, or it would be if I had any clue what it was supposed to be, but are you going to prepare an upload for the Towers to Blob in, or is it staying like that? Forgive my slowness, I'm not particularly knowledgeable where artwork is concerned.

Oh, sorry I must have been distracted
those 'x' and ':' symbols are meant to indicate the area covered by the beam, where 'x' is for the cosecant shape and ':' would be a wide fan beam.
Well, if there's a way to post some graphics to the Editors then I might try my skills at drawing something better

Mu Beta Posted Mar 24, 2003
Well, it's either that or find a new community artist to do them for you.
I'm finished with my ten entries, btw, and never want to have radar mentioned to me on site again.

Well, while being as inoffensive as possible, it was at least as dull as any individual entry I've ever subbed from PR, and that includes A882920.
Maybe I'm not a real scientist at heart, though - I know too much Shakespeare

I was just looking at the Police Radar entry, and it shows me as the editor and one of the sub-editors as a researcher. Any idea why that is?

I suspect it's just a glitch.
Unless, of course, you have somehow had the Editing rights returned to you. This could mean that the Towers are finally doing something with this project.
