Shagbark!
Pierce, you've been on hootoo for a decade (isn't it?) although it seems much longer because we've been abusing one another for most of that time!
I think I joined hootoo way back in July 1998 or 1999 after hearing a Douglas Adams interview on Radio 4 in which he mentioned h2g2. Therefore, I have one or two years on the scurvy sea dog!
Ooops! Sometimes I just don't know my own strength!

Ah, but I was a regular on Douglas' personal site long before I learned about hootoo. Even helped him find some backing music for a BBC radio show

What are you up to nowadays Shargbark?
Pierce, not 'the' DNA radio show? I only used DNA's website a few times and seldom posted because I was worried that I would say something that would make me look stupid (so what else is new?). Sometimes I was logged on to hootoo at the same time as DNA but was always to shy to post hello on his home page and wish I had.
I heard the news that he had died on the car radio when I was taking the kids to the cinema and couldn't stop crying.

Since I was not within earshot I never heard the show itself so don't know which show it was
I am now older than both DNA, my father and my maternal grandfather and am now aiming for the next mile stone: The final age of my paternal grandfather
I am already feeling that old at times...
What?

I am afraid we are all a bit worse for wear.
I spend about 30 hours a week as a greeter at a retail store
and about 20 hours a week on hootoo. I now have over 30 Edited articles and am still lookout on Pierce's ship the Blood of the Zaphodistas. We have a new navigator as Kes went awol about the time the BBC was instituting a new sign in.
Perhaps you remember when the BBC took over h2g2- I had to change identities from hickory to shagbark.
With the new BBCid it looks like Kes had to change to Kes Smith.

I hope not . T'would be such a shame after all these years.
You seem to keep yourself busy Shargbark. I've never written any Guide entries due to my lack of confidence and the fact that I can't think of anything interesting to write about! I'm friends with Mary & Kes are on Facebook but Kes isn't very 'active' as I think his job keeps him very busy. He's a grandad now too!
The first time I heard h2g2 was on Radio 4 late one night when I was working my way through a pile of ironing. I thought it was like Kenny Everet's Captain Kremmon (can't remember the correct spelling!) meets Dr Who. T'was so funny!

Speaking of Facebook- I have a page there but instead of registering under my Real name I registered First Name: Shagbark Last Name: Hickory.
so if you run into a shagbark hickory on facebook it is I.

I'll take a peek to see if I can find you on FB.
There's a link on the h2g2 front page to their official FB page.
I'm orff to the dentist this morning to have a crown fitted on a pre-molar (bits of me keep dropping off, including my teeth!).

There are some parts of my anatomy that are shrinking and shrivelling whilst others are expanding to take up the resulting slack! I'm getting to the point that when I wake up and find that nothing has dropped off or been relocated overnight, then I'm grateful.
Soooo tired! Need and

I read all the obituaries to make sure I'm still alive before I go to w*rk
It would be such a waste to go w*rking when you're already dead, I think
