Entry: Unwanted Magazine Subscriptions (A Comprehensive Look) - A5938851
Author: Petulant Abacus - U2125360

I think this article is interesting and amusing - i saved it from the flea market and edited it somewhat, but my worry is that it is not factual enough to be included in the edited guide.

Too much of a 'humor piece?'

You tell me! smiley - smiley

If you're that unsure of this entry's applicability for PR, why not put it into the Writing Workshop and see what ideas come up from others there? smiley - smiley

The original PR thread may be of use here: F2094149?thread=634603

The conensus in the thread was the entry did have the potential to be EG suitable, but needed a little bit more work on being useful, and a little less of the trying too hard to be funny. On the latter note, I do find the new ending rather a bit much.

Many of the issues brought up in that older PR thread still need to be addressed - including my post #19, for one.

Thankyou and i agree - the ending in particular.
I knew i wanted something there, but couldn't figure out what - thought i'd put that there to sort of test the water.

I do need to make it more useful - although how to do so is a conundrum in that i think the origibnal author wrote it as a humour piece.

I'll put it in the writing workshop.
Thanks again! smiley - smiley

AAAArgh.

I've read the original PR forum.
I think FacianeA may have disappeared deliberately in order to avoid this.

The thing is - it's quite funny.
It's very 'guide', without being too douglas adams wannabe.

But it is not very informative, and making it so is near impossible, because each and every magazine seems to have their own fiendishly difficult way of unsubscribing - and here's the thing - most of the suggestions (eg; move away) are jokes. Quite good, tasteful jokes in some respects, but still jokes.

Having serious trouble!
To create an entry on the subject that is actualy useful may mean cutting a lot and rewriting it fully. any help/thoughts?

Note - i removed my try hard entry and replaced it with something shorter and (i hope) better, although it's not exactly the crux of the piece and could probably cease to exist without upsetting anything.

*LOL*
anybody!
i'm not sure it's really salvageable in the sense of becoming a useful entry, and if it's just a humour piece then i'll leave as is in the non-edited guide.
Just deciding whether there's any point continuing with it.

HELP!!!

Yep, I'd definitely suggest a move to the Writing Workshop. Hopefully lots of people might be able to add their own thoughts and ideas, and fingers crossed we'll end up with an EG-worthy piece!

Okay let's take this slowly smiley - winkeye

1) Go to PeerReview
2) go to the bottom of the page and find your entry. If it isn't there, click on "More entries" (or whatever the link is, I've forgotten)
3) Click the "x" or "remove entry" link on the right hand side.

Your entry is now removed from Peer Review and you can submit it to the Writing Workshop smiley - ok

Should we go ahead and move this one back to the entry for the author?

I was tempted for a moment to say FM. But this one has limited itself to magazine subscriptions instead of opening up to all manner of unwanted guff that can be sent to one's home. And on that basis I find it limited. Therefore back to entry.
