Election 2004
darakat - Now with pockets! Posted Aug 23, 2004
Actuly the majority of people are dead center, only us wirdeos have anything remotly left or right. Most poltics is actuly a fight between libreaterian and authorterian anyways. If you want a scale then about 80% should be in the -2 to 2 range on both axis, and 98% should be -5 to 5, -8 to 8 should have 99.99% and -10 to 10 will have 100% (well duh), if they have done the scales and math right of course. There will also be a global standpoint, ie at current it might be said that is slighly right wing authorattaive, and perhaps in the 70s it was slighly left wing liberaterian and perhaps in the french revoloution it was right wing liberaterian and so on. The test itself is not nessasrily 100% accurate, and it changes evey 6 months or so (take it again in 6 months and see) you should change over that time. It may also depend on what you are doing currently, ie if you just read dus capital (and god help you if you are trying to) you will probebly be more left wing authortative, however if you have just read a discorse of the rights of man, you will probebly be more liberaterain. If you have no views on anything at all you should be dead center, ie the man in the shack in h2g2 should be 0,0.

I was bottom left hand corner, but can't remember the numbers. Of course, I didn't easily understand half the questions, and didn't really think about them. Also, there were some when I would have liked to see an option of "neither agree nor disagree". I've also been doing the games at http://www.philosophers.co.uk and found I have no morals!

Oh dear. Niwt, I just followed that link and did a couple of games and - well, it looks like I have no morals either. *shrug*

Good to know I'm not the only one. It seems some of the games are designed that way anyway. But I did it with a bunch of other people all of whom had more morals than me, and therefore assumed I was a chickenfucker Some of the games are really torturous though and I felt horrible about some decisions.

Yes, some of the questions were just strange. As for the chicken - it wasn't explained if the chicken consented. Of course, if the chicken was frozen, it would serve the bloke right.
As for the other people - did they answer honestly, or did they answer in accordance with the perceived standards of the group?

Yeah, I guess it depends on the consent of the chicken. I was guessing that as the chicken was dead, it was incapable of consenting, and as far as I know, if it was dead it probably couldn't feel anything and wasn't aware what was happening. Unless of course you are aware what's happening after you die, in which case the chicken probably wouldn't be very happy, but would probably be even less happy at being plucked and frozen anyway.
Everybody else answered honestly, I think.
Oops - we've gone off at a tangent and wrecked the thread. Sorry!

I don't know - Australian politics and intimate relations with poultry - there's stranger things said in Parliament...

Hmm looks interesting, I'll give it a go, but I don't need a quiz to tell me I've got no morals, I already know that!
(not sure about the chicken, but I'll get to that when I do the quiz...)

It looks like I was right about October... Now, if only I could predict the result; I want to know if I should get serious about emigrating if the outcome is unpleasant.

Well it will take 7,420 people to change government, its a pretty close one this one. The speech he made, well I have heard less bullshit in a abattoir.

The bit about giving us all a sense of hope was especially hysterical; the stuff about trust was just dripping with irony. Oh, how I hope we get rid of him.

And he never answered the question about going a full term, just kept going on about being there for as long as HIS party wants him

Yeah, but all politicians are liars, its part of the job description, not that I am defending him in any way, just mentioning that Lathum is almost as bad... Almost...

My Political Compass:
Economic left/right: -3.25
Social libertarian/authoritarian: -3.85
Is that good or bad??!?!?! I'm with Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama....heh heh heh...
Oh well...I liked that bit of Howard's in the debate as well...totally avoided answering directly about whether he was going to stay for the whole term if he was re-elected. I loved the way that he was talking about how if Liberal is voted for, it's not for him...it's for the party. That you're not choosing a person, but a team of people. Then the Liberal advertising comes out, and it's attacking the person (Latham), not the party (Labor)...a whacky guy, Howard. I think it's time to bring out my "Throw Howard Overboard" t-shirt again.
