All the votes are collated at once. Once you've voted there's no need to vote again.

If your first choice candidate gets knocked out in the first round, your second choice will be used for round two, and so on until one candidate has over 50% of the vote.


Looking from the results in so far though it probably won't get further than a couple of rounds. Two candidates look like they are sharing a runaway lead between them and others have no first choice votes at all.

In that case I don't understand how a round works.

But I don't really understand what makes planes stay in the air, and I still get on them.

1. The first round involves all the votes for everyone's first choice candidates.

2. After they've all been counted, if someone hasn't got a 50%+ share fo the vote the next round is started, and the candidate with the lowest vote share is eliminated.

3. Anyone who put the eliminated candidate as their current choice has their next choice vote counted.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until a candidate has 50%+ of the vote

I dunno why they don't just count them all up at the end and give it to the person with most votes.
