The succesful running of a diesel engine (also called a compresssion engine) on straight vegetable oil largly depends on the type of fuel pump fitted to the vehicle.The bosch fuel pump works well,the lucus/CAV fuel pump does not like cold svo and will fail after few uses!
the Elsbett company from Germany(who were the first people to install a direct injection engine in a car) produce a kit to convert any bosch fuel pumped engine to run on svo.Elsbett offer a one year engine warrenty with their product.
Elsbett also offer a convertion kit for trucks(which has been successful in germany for a long time).A German train company uses an elsbett convertion on its diesel locomotives.
