Hi!
I thought I'd pop by to say that you've been nominated for AGG/GAG - a group of researchers looking for cool entries in the Unedited Guide, to feature in a weekly entry for the Post. Anywho, our homepage is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U187783
Please come by and chat to us - or talk here if you like - we're eager to help! For example, if you'd like someone to have a quick run through your entry for typos and such, or if you'd like it not to be featured till you've finished it - or anything else - just say!
Thanks!

Yo Lucinda! Fancy meeting you here.
This was going to be my pick for the third entry in #3 too.
I'll leave you to it then.

Intro then:
The Aggressive German Generals / Glorious Anglophonic G.I.s present two stirring tales of tanks, guns, and architects. The author, h2g2 veteran _Uncle_Monty_, has not been seen at h2g2 for a little while. But his is a fine legacy. Read more about _World_War_One_ and _World_War_Two_.

By some incredible coincidence I have come back to h2g2 and happened upon this message - exactly a year to the day after it was posted. How uncanny.
Nice to re-read my history essays and learn that someone had finally read and appreciated them - though I must say I seem to have been in a hurry to finish World War Two - just like the Americans!

Hello Monty,
hope you didn't mind me calling you a terrible thingummy-bob!
funny you should return on the day, as it were.
You'll be pleased to know your learned dissertation on the little mid-century ruckus over living-rooms was a roaring success in the small pond of our Post column. Well, we all liked it!
you back? or just visiting?
cya (maybe next year)

Hi Spiff - no I don't mind at all.
Well, at the time I originally joined h2g2 I had sod all to do at work and was just passing the time, and getting on my high horse about a few things apparently. I have always wanted to be a writer, not neccessarily of humourous things - the World War One and Two articles were again just written to pass the time.
Considering I just sat and wrote them without any prior planning or editing or even a great deal of thought, I am pleased that some people saw them and found them funny. You never know - that might encourage me to try some more...perhaps a spoof of the war on terrorism? I'm sure someone here will have done that already!.
I know why I didn't pick up the comments on my articles when they were originally made - I was moving house - by the time all that was done and christmas was over, I got pretty busy at work and have been rushed off my feet ever since.
Today I am at home with a newish computer and my christmas present - ADSL. So had a wander into H2G2.
Bizarre! Were there any other comments on my WW1 & WW2 things? I'd be interested in reading them..
