Gnomon - time to move on

We get Rana here in Ireland, but not Bufo. Except for one very rare type of Bufo which lives in two locations, each only about 1 square kilometre. I've seen Bufo eggs, but no Bufo.

I was delighted, therefore, on our recent trip to England, when El came across a tiny one, about 1.5cm long in the undergrowth under some trees when we were out looking at rabbits.

There used to be many Rana where my parents live, and the boys used to catch them and stick under the shirts of the girls. smiley - rolleyes

Tadpole on ditches were a common appearance.

The ditches have dried out now, but my parents have a small pond in their garden, so there are still frogs there.

It's the first time I've seen a toad here, though (and possible at all - my memory isn't what it used to be).
