Apple purchased the right to take a tour of PARC and get their ideas. Microsoft did not.

Nope, Clickie - According to the history of Apple I got out of the library, Steve Jobs just went on the standard public tour, and took a lot of notes.

I am going to start up a new computer company that produces stable systems that are fully compatable with everything... I will call it Orange, and the first computer line will be the Slicker E-3.

Won't the mobile phone people complain? Don't bother with Pear - that used to be a company making Apple II clones, and Banana made Apple-compatible printers... If you're in New Zealand, you could call it Kiwi-Fruit...?

Actually, I take back my earlier comments...according to people who worked at Apple back then (1976-1980s and beyond), many of the people who worked at Apple used to work at PARC on many of the same concepts, so much of the Mac interface was designed by people who originated the GUI concepts, both at PARC and at Apple. It wasn't any kind of stealing or buying at all.

But how did the computer distinguish what to do with the ones and zeros? It is a vicious circle... I wonder what it would be like to have real virtual reality...
