Talking of facts of life, #1 grandson is at the age when you explain the finer points. Having had the technique explained carefully with the aid of a very good Dorling Kinder book that's just won a prize he asked Mommy Weatherwax, during the evening meal,if it didn't get boring waiting around for the 'finish'.........

Mommy Weatherwax now has nicely pebble-dashed walls in the kitchen
