Are grass and clay the only options?

This is not a naive question. Although I had a next-door neighbor who let me use his
clay court, most of the tennis games I have played have been on asphalt--usually
paved with the same material as the parking lots nearby, and (also usually) near
high schools. I suspect that a great many people who are not destined for greatness
as tennis players will spend much of their lives playing on asphalt courts.
(The wealthier ones, of course, will be able to afford their own clay courts.
I am not worried about how they will make out ). I have never played tennis on
grass, because my father's field was too bumpy for that.
So, I will await with interest your articles on Wimbledon and related topics,
but I doubt I can contribute anything to them. Sorry.
Are grass and clay the only options?

Four tournaments make up the tennis majors. They are all played on different surfaces. Australia uses the artificial Rebound Ace surface and the US Open is played on a hardcourt.
Clay and grass were the original (natural) surfaces - the other types are man-made.
