The series is set during the Nepoleonic Wars, so its semi-historical. It's like the war but with dragons in the military and stuff. Peter Jackson, director of Lord of the Rings, liked the books so much he bought the movie rights

smiley - cool

The mention of the Neapoleonic Wars now made me think of a different book, I think it was this one. There was something about it in Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrel, as far as I remember. Most boring book I've ever read apart from The Collector, which we were forced to read at school... by which I don't mean that your books are boring, I was just reminded of it.

Have you ever read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell? If not, don't start it. I've read about 1/3 and then put it away because nothing happened at all.

A cup of tea to go with discussing the book
Anyone?
smiley - tea
I read it far ago, as far as I remember, I found that book boring too but, I read it until the end, not that bad anyway. But I don't suggest it.
Oooo! Piece of cake.
Walking to it, quietly.
smiley - cake
That one is!!!

Good series with dragon would be Micheal Moorcock's Elric Sequence. One of the best fantasy serie ever.

I still suggest the Temeraire Series, His Majesty's Dragon, Throne of Jade, Black Powder War, Empire of Ivory and most recently added Victory of Eagles, all of them good and very detailed. Verry good books, I could be border line rabid/obsessed right now too

I'll now start reading Tad Williams' Shadowmarch part 2 again... I've got it for quite a while now but only read about 1/4 because I somehow didn't like walking in the fog anymore. All in all I think Otherland and War of the Flowers was better... so far. I haven't read any others yet.

Tad Williams is good, you should try him... Otherland is really great. It's a kind of science fiction, but playing in this century. About VR.
