Hey George, if you want, I would quite like to write about the following:

Ducking for Apples
Kim's Game
Musical Chairs, musical statues.
Spin the Bottle.
Games on the Road.
Any other not listed that may spring to mind.

They would keep me busy for a while I should think smiley - smiley, so if you haven't got round to starting any of them, then I can give them a blast.

I am now embarking on my Games for the Road adventure . Here are a few that spring to mind, but I am bound to forget some of them, so if you can think of any, please whack them here smiley - smiley

Animal, Vegetable, Mineral

The Alphabet Game - in alphabetic order, and using last letter of preceeding turn, naming stuff from a particular catigory.

I Spy With My Little Eye - also mentioning EyeSpy books might be worthwhile, but I have no idea if they still exist - they were going strong 10 years ago...

Argh, thats all I can think of at the moment ;-/, of the proper classics, there must be loads though - still, its a start...

I went to the shops and I bought...apples
I went to the shops and I bought...apples and bananas
I went to the shops and I bought...apples, bananas and crab sticks, etc.

Does this game ring any bells?

Or another alphabet game: I love my love with an 'A' because his name is Arthur, he lives in Amsterdam, he wears Anoraks, and he's Adorable.

etc. etc.

I remember the eye-spy books. Haven't seen them recently though.

First one does, less sure about second. (ring bells I mean)
Does that alphabet game have any sort of entry length requirements?
or is name, place, clothing, and adjective it, in which case, cool, I'll put it in, does it have a good name?

The 2nd alphabet game is just called "I love My love With An A" I think that there are variations to the categories, it's like all these type of games, they get adapted by the players.

Have you heard of car snooker? You have to spot a red car and then a colour, etc and then all the colours in sequence.

What is snooker? A billiard game?

smiley - erm I suppose it is sort of. It's a very famous game in Britain, much time is dedicated to the various championships on TV. I just assumed that everyone would know what it is. Sorry! Where are you from George?

Snooker is played on a bigger table with 15 red balls racked in a triangle at the far end of the table. A black ball below the reds, a pink ball above, a blue ball in the middle of the table and a yellow, brown and green ball placed on the balkline. The object of the game is to pot a red then a colour until all the reds are cleared and then pot all the colours in sequence. The professional players win a lot of money. I'm trying to think of any American players but I can't. It is a world-wide sport though, although the world champiobships are dominated by Brits. The game is so popular in Britain that it has even spawned a Saturday evening TV game show and a comedy pop-record. Snooker players are celebraties and many have nicknames. I'm surprised it isn't known in New Jersey, but then I know next to nothing about eight ball.

Eight Ball is a call shot game played with a cue ball and fifteen object balls, 1 through 15. One player must pocket balls of the group numbered 1 to 7 (solid colors), while the other player has 9 through 15 (stripes). The player pocketing his group first and then legally pocketing the 8-ball wins the game.

CALL SHOT
In Call Shot, obvious balls and pickets do not have to be indicated. It is the opponent's right to ask which ball and pocket if he is unsure of the shot. Bank shots and combination shots are not considered obvious, and care should be taken in calling both the object ball and the intended pocket. When calling the shot, it is NEVER necessary to indicate details such as the number of cushions, banks, kisses, caroms, etc. Any balls pocketed on a foul remain pocketed, regardless of whether they belong to the shooter or the opponent. The opening break is not a "called shot." Any player performing a break shot in 8-Ball may continue to shoot his next shot so long as he has legally pocketed any object ball on the break.

Sounds complicated. I'm pretty c**p at just playing pool in the bar. I do recall that my Dad used to play bar billiards but that seems even weirder. I'm much more of an arm chair snooker fan. It used to be funny when I only had a black and white TV to watch it on smiley - laugh
