I think we decided it wasn't really a competition.
After all, how do you decide which is the very worst of the worst?
Or is it the very best of the worst?

I think you've done well here, though - you've ended up with a sampling of the sort of thing they do in the Bulwer Lytton competition, trying to make up improbable sentences that suggest a story and tell a joke, really.

Are lots of parentheses and qualifiers now considered a *good* thing in a scene-setting sentence? Did I miss a meeting?
