OK I admit it, please don't deride me but I LOVED Sunset Beach. 
My Dad hates critisism of any program he watches (such as old cowboy films or anything else on daytime channel 4). Me and my mum generally sit there and take the film to pieces and really enjoy it.
As my Dad would never watch Sunset Beach it gave me the opportunity to watch a completely unbelivable program, take it to pieces and try to guess the next storyline. This was generally something along the lines of an affair/stalking/voodoo/murder with a relative/unknown relative/best mate's boyfriend.
When we were younger (ie no money and no chance of getting into a pub anywhere) me and my best mate Sarah would sit with a drink and watch the omnibus on a saturday night. We eventually moved onto WWF, so I don't know what that says about my tastes.
