Well, we lost our Boston contact ... we haven't seen her in a while, and it's difficult to make plans in a city you're unfamiliar with!
I think we'd all like to get together, but without an in-the-city point person, we're kinda stuck. That's why we're talking about waiting until next year which will give us more time to plan.
Unless you have ideas?

Well, I have lived in Boston my entire life...
What are the responsibilities of the in-the-city point person?

Shea the Sarcastic Posted Jul 28, 2001
Just to suggest a venue for the meet up, and possibly to make reservations there if needed. It's not easy to say we'll meet at so-and-so if you don't know the place!
Oh, this is great!

I don't see why I wouldn't be capable of arranging something like that. Assuming I won't be hunted down by whomever's place I'd be filling (the Knights Templar and h2g2 Mod. are more than I can handle as it is)

I don't think she'll mind ... I haven't even seen her since starting the Researchers Group! Arranging a meet-up was the reason I started it in the first place!
We were originally talking about getting together in August, but that's obviously too soon. Maybe we can do something in the Autumn?

I was planning on vacationing in California in August, so autumn does sound better.
Yay! How many other researchers do you think will attend?
Somewhere, 2002
Shea the Sarcastic Posted Jul 28, 2001
I don't know! We're up to 23 Researchers that have joined here ... at least we're all in one place now! Maybe we can reach some sort of concensus of when ...
Last year they tried to have a NY meet-up, but they picked Thanksgiving weekend, and I think to many people travel to make that a good choice. Maybe we should pick sometime in October or something ... or even push it to January for those that go to school.

We'll see, but now I must be off.
I'll be back in a few hours though

Excellent...
Mwahahahahaha!
Er,
*cough*
Anyway, on a completely unrelated topic, I saw the new Planet of the Apes this past evening. I almost got kicked out of the theater too. What can I say, it wasn't my fault I found all the wrong moments to be so hysterical that I'd fall to the floor and laugh until tears began to roll down my cheeks...
Back to Boston:
Autumn is good. Before or after Thanksgiving, not during. And prefferably before Christmas.
But where should the meet be held?
Somewhere, 2002
Shea the Sarcastic Posted Jul 29, 2001
So I take it the new Planet of the Apes movie isn't all it should be ...
Where would be your recommendation for a meet-up?

Let's see...
We could always go to a bar, or a restaurant, or...er,
Oh! We could all go out for lunch somewhere (food and drink is Boston's claim to fame), then we could go see Blue Man Group! And then we could wander off to some bar, and roam around until we got kicked out!

Shea the Sarcastic Posted Jul 29, 2001
Now *that* sounds like a perfect plan!
We'll just have to wait for the other NE Researchers to come back (probably during the week), and see what the consensus of opinion is, and what a good weekend is for everybody!

Alright
*sigh*
This is going to be more work than I expected. If we want a good seat for the show, we'll need to call tomorrow (I'm not kidding either). Reservations are easy, no problem. But finding the means to pay for the ridiculously expensive tickets...
We shall discuss it with the others, I suppose. It's going to be tough to pull off, but I think if we all get our acts together (as a procrastinator it kills me to say that), we'll be able to do this, and do it right!
