An end to homework?

Believe it or not, education is not a penalty. Like taxes, it is the price each of us pays for a great world with steel bridges and cable TV shows (I like C-Span). Homework is a backbone of education - and I do not believe that it can be easily taken away without adverse effects to the public education system.
What do you plan to do to compensate for the loss of this key edumacational tool?

Under a Reddyfreddy presidency, education will receive a massive boost: a whole new generation of inspired and inspiring teachers, motivated and high on sheer enthusiasm, will instill in their students such a fierce hunger for learning that there will be no need for homework - the young will spend their evenings in the libraries or conducting fieldwork or researching online simply because they want to, they can't imagine anything better.
Because there *is* nothing better.
A real utopia, humanist, decent and egalitarian. We can make it happen.

You might want to run that by the young fella who caused you to make the promise
You believe you can make an educational utopia? I don't doubt your sincerity, but I do worry about hubris. Many times has a utopia been attempted. All have failed. Historians contend that the closest thing to a utopia came about in the Ozark Mountains.

Well, I'll just have to take your word for that
I haven't actually run it past my candidate yet As for the young fella, I'm sure she won't mind if I adjust the promise slightly
... There we go.

Did you ever consider my offer of making RF the Secretary/Minister of Hegemony Smashing in a Hyp administration?
An end to homework?
Trin Tragula Posted Sep 24, 2005
I was going to wonder (aloud) whether "Minister of Hegemony Smashing in a Hyp administration" wouldn't be something of a contradiction in terms ...
But that would be uncalled for, so I shan't
Would it involve him withdrawing from the race?

2legs gave us a Hegemony Index score of 10.2 in his broadcast. Higher than anyone else.
(I hate doing this, but I'm going to quote a dictionary...) M-w.com says a hegemony is a 'preponderant influence or authority over others'. So I guess that's a good thing for a campaign to be. Maybe not an administration, but a campaign.
He wouldn't have to withdraw from the race. Just throw his support behind Hyp for the second or third preference spots on the ballot.
PS - I noticed you saw Terran/Reefgirl's little speeches about us not having enough fun and taking things too seriously (I paraphrase). I've never seen people take fun so seriously before...

It looks like we may be concentrating on the wrong hegemony...should we change our slogan?
We would, of course still be remaining consistent in our message (Bob, I'd make a *good* politician ) of hegemony-smashing, just changing the target to the real threat!

Jodan - I noticed you noticed
So it's 'Smash the 2legs/Hypatia hegemony!', guv? Shall I change the manifesto accordingly?

Isn't 2legs out of it anyway? Did he find a new running mate or not? I think we may need to consult Croz before we do anything rash.

I don't deal with people who talk about my countrymen so condescendingly. (that's RF, not Trin) Is it just me or it getting harder?

Yeah, well I was never going to support that particular hegemony anyway.
Bloody hegemonies! Always spying on you! That's why they need to be *smashed*!

Certainly. Identified - then smashed.
So, if 2legs is out of it we go with 'Ozark hegemony'. If not, a combination of the two. If any of the other parties show hegemonic tendencies, we'll add them to the list.
Victory is so close I can almost taste it
