Margret Thatcher said that this country should join the Euro over her dead body. I'd certainly vote for that!

I know what you mean, but I really think that her intervention in this campaign will be very helpful. Not for the Tories, but for the rest of us! When the election results come in at the end of next week, I expect to be able to think of her and grin triumphantly!

Since making my previous post, I've just read on the BBC Vote 2001 site that Thatcher is going to campaign for the Conservatives' only Asian candidate. The Tory candidate in the constituency I live in, Bradford West, is Anglo-Asian - so that must mean that Maggie's coming round my way! I hope so - I was getting worried that the Tories might win the seat, but if she shows her face that should scupper their chances!

Well, it did occur to me that after the Prezza incident, some leading Conservatives criticised him on the grounds that egg and veg-throwing was a traditional part of British electoral life and that therefore he shouldn't have got so angry about it. One trusts that the Tories would remember that if any of them got the treatment!

I can hardly believe this, but it appears that I was...

...MISLED BY A BBC WEBSITE!
Maggie isn't coming to Bradford after all. A story I saw on the generally excellent BBC Vote 2001 site said that she was going to be campaigning for someone who the story described as the only Asian Tory candidate in the election. As my local Tory candidate is Asian, I took that to mean she'd be campaigning for him. However, it turns out that there is actually more than one Asian Tory candidate and that Maggie's backing another one who's standing in Northampton.
I have sent an e-mail to BBC Online pointing out the error. I mean, I was looking forward to seeing Maggie - I'd already started practicing my booing and jeering!

Perhaps your MP hasn't sent back his census form so nobody knows what race or ethnic background he comes from.
