nonetheless I have a question.
Why does the ICQ chat gossip at the end have a cartoon of you and her still sitting on the couch with some sarnies on the table, just visible behind the text? It's so vastly intriguing I have to ask.
funny stuf though. you remind me of a very famous cartoonist here in holland who also did loads of 'life' cartoons. what's his name...

The only answer I can give to the first part is... oops! Possibly a glitch in the paint program I used.
The second part has me intrigued. Who is the cartoonist you refer to? And is there any way of seeing their stuff?

Exactly... very creepy indeed.
The cartoonist's name is Peter van Straaten (took me ages to find his name on the net). His cartoons feature extremely subtle snapshots of the funny, awkward, disarming, embarassing, generally very recognizable moments in life. he also did political satire. His work is an 'ousehold name in holland. you can find out some more about him in english on w-w-w dot lambiek dot net slash straaten_van_p dot htm

Thanks Prez.
I've had a look and it's a very nice style, though the lack of cartoons there certainly had me hungry for more. If you know anywhere else to look...

It took me long enough to find even the artist's name on the net, let alone these bits in english. What sites I find will probably have all their cartoons in dutch, so you would miss the punchlines.
On a side note, his style isn't what you two have in common. It was your treatment of everyday situations that sparked an aha-erlebnis

Then thank you for your efforts Prez.
Quite a compliment!
It's interested me enough that I'm going to look for any english books available by him. You never know what may turn up.

Dude, I hope you find some, because his view on life is really something. He has the keenest eye when it come to the more subtle dimensions of the human tragicomedy. Good luck!
