This entry is a solid primer on the card game of Hearts. Particular attention is given to the Black Lady variant, which is currently the most popular, but descriptions of other variants and optional rules are detailed as well. I have also included observations on general strategy, and some illustrative anecdotes from past games.

Excellent article Can't fail to get in the guide.
HOWEVER. The paragraph on 99-sinkhole breaks the terms and conditions of the site let alone the writing guidlines. Whilst I know exactly what you mean about such players - swearing in an article is not allowed. I should tone this paragraph down considerably.
Apart from that - brilliant -will surely wend its way to the edited guide.
I must say I've never played this game with real humans. I've only ever played it on Windows and it's somewhat boring there as the computer is so damn predictable it's easy to beat it. Hey ho.

fully agreed
And then there is this remark to be made...
I'm not making suggestions here, but did you have a glance at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A597918, the University Project on Card Games? Volunteers still wanted

in the omnibus section, the Jack of Diamonds becomes a Jack of Hearts and then changes back. Do I need a special deck for that?

Nice article CopyMaster
One remark: your first footnote seems to cover the No Blood on First Trick optional rule. Maybe you could link the two?
Other than that: great entry (apart from the swearing, which won't be tolerated in the edited Guide, as Bossel (Bessel? ) mentioned.

Thanks for all of the constructive comments. I have revised the entry with your observations in mind. I have eliminated the offensive word in the "99-Sinkhole" section (sorry about that -- I don't know what I was thinking), corrected the error about the Jack of Diamonds/Hearts in the "Omnibus Hearts" section (Thanks for pointing that out -- as we say in the copy editing biz: "Great catch!"), and fixed the redundancy between Footnote 1 and the "No Blood on First Trick" section.
I have also added a section at the end explaining how to adjust the game for playing with more or less than four players.
I now feel the entry is quite polished, thanks to the advice all of you have provided. If there are any further changes you would suggest, please let me know!
Thanks,
CopyMaster

Don't worry about the dodgy paragraph, it actually made me laugh
A highly accurate observation I'm sure. The same bunch who fiddle around with the rules in monopoly I'd warrant.
Just doing my scouting duty.
Even better now

Hello!
It all seems very complete and I only have a silly little suggestion, how about a list at the start of the entry with facts about the game like How many players, what cards are used [standard 52 deck in this case I think], The names of the variations, etc. A sort of a quick intro to see tell any perspective reader what the game is suitable for to save them reading all the way down and finding they don't have enough players, or to stop them forgetting they have to take the jokers out, that kind of thing.
Well, just a thought.
