Dave Blackeye's explanation of warp drive is a much better one than the one in the entry, and since this is an entry about warp drive, it should possibly be used. But it's not a description of real physics, as far as I know. It's just as fictional as sub-space.

I have done nothing to the entry since your posting #52, Gnomon. I missed pailaway's posting and will attend to that today.
I am interested in making this guide-worthy, which I need help with, otherwise it is destined for the Flea Market which would be a shame.

I'd certainly agree with Dave that "subspace" is not correct. In Star Wars, for example, they shift into a special place where things look different and they travel very quickly, then do a shift back to normal space. This could be described as "subspace" or "hyperspace".
But in Star Trek, they stay in normal space, because you can see normal stars moving past. They just distort (warp) the space in such a way that the distance they have to cover is smaller, allowing them achieve effective speeds greater than light speeds.

I think the whole warp thing would be sorted if you just made the following change:
allowing the ship to move into subspace
-->
compressing the space immediately in front of the ship and stretching the space immediately behind the ship

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

I've finished subbing this - haven't done much really. Any last minute changes needed?
