A toungue-in-cheek look at boy/girl bands.

Tongue-in-cheek is all very well and funny, but an entry for the Edited Guide really needs to have more factual, researched substance than just poking fun at something. Not that I'm poking fun at poking fun at things. smiley - smiley

Really, though. I could tell that you must have enjoyed writing this one, and that you have a fun sense of humor. But - the entries the Scouts are looking for tend to be of the sort that you might find in an encyclopedia (albeit a rather amusing encyclopedia at times) - which means that they include useful/interesting information that the average joe wouldn't have known or thought of. Being funny is really more of a secondary issue.

If you're *really* interested in teeny bands, maybe you'd be interested in writing some entries for the guide on those reality TV shows focused around creating teen groups - i.e., "PopStars" or "Making the Band"?

Since nothing's happened on this for ages I propose a move to the writing workshop.
Anyone agree?

Whilst the article is undoubtedly funny - it's not really based on reality (though some might disagree smiley - winkeye) adn so in its current form is not really suitable for the edited guide.

Actually, I'd suggest the "Alternative Writing Workshop", as I think it was meant to be more humor than fact. I'll second you either way, though.

I was about to have it moved from here to the Flea Market, but Spike has posted something 'two days ago'. Hi there smiley - smiley

How about polishing the entry a bit and offering it to the Post http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/ThePost ?

Oh hello smiley - smiley

I was thinking of putting it into GuideML when I was talking of polishing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/GuideML-clinic has the complete info about how to do that. But you could as well choose any entry from the Edited guide and look behind the cover to see how it's done. A617366 is a good example as it also has an ordered list. To reveal the GuideML you simply replace the 'A' with 'test':
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/test617366

In short:
Paragraphs are enclosed in and :
This.is.a.para.
This.is.another.

Headers are done in like fashion (same for SUBHEADER):
ThisIsAHeader

Ordered Lists are done like this:

First list item, numbered as 1
second item

or with some more white space between the items:

First list item, numbered as 1
second item

The whole entry needs to be enclosed by
.... contents of entry ...

To switch an entry into GuideML mode you have to check the button at the bottom of the Edit Screen.

Ok, and the Post office is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/ThePost

Hope that helps smiley - smiley
