I'm trying to write a good old-fashioned hootoo collaborative entry.
It's a sparse on non-Western traditions. If anyone knows anything about birthdays in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East especially I'd like to hear it.

That sort of thing, thanks Bob. I guess what the entry is lacking info on birthday traditions, songs, presents etc from countries other than those already mentioned.

I wonder if I can find out about Gambian birthdays from my friends out there? You'll have to remind me, though. Bit busy with arranging the wedding at the moment

" if the person in question is young enough, there may be a candle for each year of their life."
Above the age of 21, this becomes somewhat tricky due to the sheer heat of the candles.

That's what I was going for - that, and room on the cake! Should I make it a little clearer?

Bengal Tiger, I've added some of that information on India to my entry. As a result, I've credited you as one of the researchers involved. It will now appear on your 'My Entries' list.
Thanks!

I'm still subscribed, but posting in the Peer Review thread makes things easier as it keeps it all together.
